Lolamar swimwear was born in Argentina as “Lolamare” in 1990 by founder and Chief Creative Officer, Gabriela Tuttolomondo. Gabriela, a well known architect in Buenos Aires had always designed bathing suits for friends and local models in her city. Her focus on new styles and bold colors resulted in more and more requests each year. It wasn’t long before she followed her instincts and decided to produce some samples and sell them to local boutiques. Gabriela sold out every piece that year and hasn’t looked back since.

 

 

A decade of success in small circles paid off. In 1999, Gabriela was approached by top Argentine apparel brand “NASA” to design the company’s swimwear collection. For two seasons Gabriela created a bathing suit line that reflected the creativity of Lolamar under the NASA label. She emerged not only with new design inspirations, but also the know-how of how successful labels managed their business.

In 2003 Gabriela partnered with longtime friend and California resident, Vanesa Wittenberg, to launch Lolamar in the United States. In the process “Lolamare” evolved to LOLAMAR. During Spring/Summer 2003 the pair distributed its first U.S. collection among boutiques in Santa Monica and Malibu. For Spring/Summer 2004 Lolamar opens it first showroom at the Cooper Building in Los Angeles and plans to open more stores around the country. Recent Lolamar collections are currently in Uruguay, Costa Rica, Spain and Italy and have been received with great success.
